Why I avoid blatant console fanboyism, and my opinions on each console.
Posted by SniperWolf1564 Aug. 5, 2008 @ 1:33 PM EDTFanboyism of consoles has existed for quite a long time. You had Atari fanboys, Sega fanboys, Nintendo fanboys, etc. This still exists today, with Nintendrones, Xbots, and Sony fanfags. I could take sides in this current console war (being that I own a 360,) but, I know that fanboyism is so stupid, and no one in any group makes any educated argument. It's also what's stopping me from buying a PS3 at this moment, because it's fanbase is either stupid, snide, cocky, or is an elitist dick. I also own a Wii, but I ended up purchasing that based on hype, which became one of the worst purchases I have ever made. With the exceptions of Mad World, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and No More Heroes, there is nothing I want for the console. The hardware is the equivalent of a slightly upgraded Gamecube, and almost all the software you can find for it is just shovelware at most. My 360 is guilty of a couple of crimes, as I ended up suffering from a RRoD, and the console still crashes at random.
So I just made myself appear to hate everything. Yeah, even though I stated everything I hate about either console, there are things I like about the PS3 and the 360 (sorry Wii, since Nintendo abandoned the core gamer audience, I feel there is no hope left for you.)
Xbox 360
Very large online community.
Very strong lineup of exclusives.
The most comfortable controller that I have held before.
Castle Crashers.
Achievements system.
Unified Friends List.
Playstation 3
Superior hardware(?)
Symmetrical Controller.
The OS has a lot of customization options.
Compared to Microsoft, Sony is a lot more open in terms of customizing.
Some really nice exclusives, such as MGS4, a series that I am very fond of.
Trophies (though, no game has yet to implement them.)
Unified friends list.
Free online play.
I like both platforms, it's just I hate the fanbase of both consoles, because of the blatant stupidity of each side.
I'm trying to remain neutral in this console war, and I am going to try to do the same for the next generation.
